This event will take place between 8:30am and 3:30pm on 01/04/2025

With World Book Day (Tuesday 6th March) and World Poetry Day (Friday 21st March) fast approaching, we are delighted to announce that on Tuesday 1st April, we will be welcoming the poet and author, Joshua Seigal, to our school.

Joshua Seigal is an internationally renowned poet, performer and educator. His first book with Bloomsbury, I Don't Like Poetry, was nominated for the Laugh Out Loud Award, an award Joshua has subsequently won twice. He is also a recipient of The People's Book Prize, and more recently, the Reading Rocks Book Award, having performed at many festivals around the world, including the Edinburgh Book Festival, the Cheltenham Literature Festival, and the Dubai Literature Festival.

He is an Official Ambassador for National Poetry Day, and has been commissioned to write and perform for the BBC.

His books include:

  • I Don’t Like Poetry (2016)
  • Little Lemur Laughing (2017)
  • I Bet I Can Make You Laugh (2018)
  • Welcome to My Crazy Life (2020)
  • Yapping Away (2021)
  • Who Let The Words Out? (2023)

During his visit, Joshua will be holding a whole school assembly, as well as running poetry workshops for Years 3 and 4.

There will be an opportunity for books to be signed by Joshua on the day of his visit, so if you do wish to purchase his books in advance of the day, please ensure your child brings these into school on 1st April.

Alternatively, if you would be interested in purchasing any of Joshua’s books, he will be selling these after school, on 1st April, in the meeting room.  All books will be £8 and a card reader will be available for those choosing to make a card payment.

In the meantime, please do visit Joshua’s website in advance of his visit for lots of free poems and resources (www.joshuaseigal.co.uk).  We hope the children will enjoy reading Joshua’s poems and meeting him in person on the 1st April.
