YEAR 5

Following our in-depth topic on The Tempest by William Shakespeare, which including drama, newspaper reports and character studies, we have, this week, been looking at biographies and what they are. We have considered the features of them and what the differences are between autobiographies and biographies. We have been researching into some of our favourite authors, which have included Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo, Anthony Horowitz, Malorie Blackman. Next week, we will be finishing our work on Jacqueline Wilson as well as creating our own biography using the notes that we have researched into our favourite authors.

We have been working very hard on developing our fractions knowledge in Maths, which has involved mixed numbers, improper fractions, adding and subtracting of fractions with similar and different denominators and lots of other challenging questions.

We have been learning our words for the Carols by Candlelight production at the end of term and some of us have taken time to write our own poem about Christmas. We are really looking forward to performing for you all on the 14th December.

In Art, we have nearly finished creating our own Viking runestones and in D.T. we have reached the point where we are testing our Mars Rovers by racing them down the corridor at high speed (hopefully!)
